Candle Magic Rituals

Candle Magic Rituals are easy to perform, but here are a few very important things to remember. The first, and one of the most important elements is the composition of the candles used in the ritual. Many people use modern candles in the belief that the colors of the candles are more important than the actual candle material. This couldn't be further from the truth.

The power and reality of successful candle magic, any magic for that matter, lies in its corresponding associations with nature. It must always be foremost in our minds when we are performing magic that witchcraft and its associated spells and rituals are all nature-based. Witchcraft is an art that springs forth from the Earth and our universe. There is no other force behind true witchcraft.

When unnatural color correspondences and materials are introduced into Candle Magic Rituals, failure is close behind. Any true practicing witch will tell you, natural, natural, natural, is always best. Stick with natural beeswax or tallow candles and you'll never go wrong. Think about it, how many witches a few hundred years ago do you suppose had access to teal colored candles?

Another important aspect integral to successful candle magic spells and rituals is the order in which candles are lighted. Candles are lighted in ritual candle magic in a specific order for a reason. The lighting of the candles in a particular order establishes patterns that signify or portend greater realities. Often, candles will be lighted as pathways for the forces behind the magic, roads if you will that carry and direct the powers where they need to go. Lighting candles in any order other than that specified will ensure failure.

Likewise, extinguishing candles once a ritual, ceremony, or spell is finished, should also be done in the specified order. Just as candles are lighted in a particular order to usher in the forces needed for successful candle magic rituals, their being extinguished serves to usher the forces back out from whence they came. When candles are not extinguished in the correct order, dire consequences loom over us; many a well-intentioned witch has found herself or himself in an uncomfortable situation because of forces that came in and didn't go back out.

Successful magic is reliant on following proper practices. Thousands of years have gone into the development of most magic; follow the directions and all will be well.
