Lughnasadh

Lughnasadh, August 1
Lughnasadh, also called Lammas, is the celebration of the harvest and starts what is called “the hunting of Lugh”. Lugh is God Celtic of the sun and it develops in harvests, alive in the gold fields. It is the period of the first harvests. To this celebration we give thanks to the ground of its generosity and beauty. It is of these harvests which we eat by the next winter. Honouring Lugh God, plays and the sports are played to celebrate the force and good health. The Demeter goddesses and Ceres of grain are also honoured. It is a time to harvest the dreams planted more at the beginning of the year.
