Witch's HatToday the stereotyped image of a witch is always that of an old ugly witch wearing a wide overflowed, large and black pointed hat, but is it possible that the hat of the witch can go up with antiquity. In engravings on wood and of the medieval diagrams, of the witches bearing various costumes of times are depicted, including headscarves and hats of various fashions. The ancient coins of currency of Etruscan of the town of Luna depict a head on a side of the coin of currency; some think it to be the Diana goddess, who is associated to the witches. The head on the coin of currency depicts the carrier with a conical hat brimless. During medieval time, the images of engraving on wood of the witches show them as a port of a truth of the costumes related to these periods, including headscarves and hats of the different modes. It is possible that the hat of witch is an exaggeration of the large “hat of dunces” conical, popular in the courses royal during the 15th century or blunt-supplemented hats worn by the puritans and the Welshman of the same period. With a pontil has there well a long time, the acute hats were an icon of mode in the town of London (then the capital of mode of Europe), but it took long-term for the fashion with the net in the country, and before they, they became left mode in the city. People of city called Country the folk “pagani” (which means the inhabitant of country), more or less even as appealing somebody “hick”, today. Moreover, of the medieval Jews were incited to wear the conical hats. Jewish people were widespread to hold of the Sabbats putting in parallel the Sabbaths of the witches. The acute hats became soon considered something only that the “pagani” would carry, more were the wife of herbalists and farmers who lived in the country and included/understood the ground. Since they were wise with the manners of nature and could develop and the grasses of harvest, thus the acute hat became associated the wise woman—the “witch”. For this same period the Christian church notch-in and the acute hats associated the horns of the devil, by then they wrinkled the eyebrows on their use. Conical hats of Brimless were associated a long time to the magicians and to the male magicians, Goya the witches painted by famous artist wearing such hats. It is possible that other artists some share along the manner added the edge to make the hats more suitable for women. By periods victoriennes, the large black conical hat worn by an old woman became easily identifiable like symbols of spite in the illustrations of the stories and the fairy tales of the children.
